Mobile Telemedicine Unit
|
|
|
Mobile telemedicine unit (MTU) is the basic element of multilevel telemedicine system to support fight with tuberculosis, HIV, malaria and other infectious diseases.
MTU equipped for mass screening of large population groups and providing of primary medical care out of medical hospitals with help of telemedicine support and under control of the national medical centres.
MTU medical equipment lets to carry out mass screening of large population groups, that are needed for effective health monitoring, including X-ray lung investigation by low-dose digital x-ray equipment, to take samples for biochemical express-investigations and to carry out functional diagnostics. MTU telecommunication and telemedicine equipment includes satellite communication station VSAT, equipment for telemedicine consultations support, including videoconference communication, workstations for radiologist and biochemist, local network.

MTU crew is 5-6 persons. Their conditions of work and transportation are ensured by systems of disinfections, air conditioning, autonomous power supply, including solar power station, and etc., and also GPS to determine one's position.
MTU is expected to take long autonomous raids and is supplied with stock of drinking water, fuel, consumable medical stuff, medicine and reagents.
Taking into account need of medical service for population in far and difficult of access regions, MTU is based on chassis, which is able to get over toughest road obstacles.
ITU announced the SCAESNet project as the best exhibit that demonstrates abilities of infocommunication techno-logies in humanitarian spheres, and Mobile Telemedicine Unit «was recognized as most innovative real contribution to bridging the digital divide in line with the key strategic objectives for development of information society, endorsed at the World Summit of Information Society».
On April 2004 SCAESNet project and the Mobile Telemedicine Unit were presented on the 32-th International Salon of Inventions in Geneva. Jury decided to reward the project with a Gold Medal.
German Inventor's Society honored MTU and the SCAESNet project by the Special Prize.
